I got much better photos in daylight this time. We followed a steep
path and steps to the workshop where Borglum had sculpted a 1/12 size set
of figures. These was used to provide measurements for the actual rock removal.
The model shows hands and details down to the waist. The actual carving was
not completed below Lincoln’s wrist. Oldies that we are, we decided
not to follow the ‘strenuous’ path named Presidents Walk.
Which is the model?

starving.” Guess that gives us the privilege to say we had both dinner
and breakfast with four Presidents.
